About

The North British Pain Association is a charitable organisation of professionals with an interest in scientific pain management, whose aim is to promote education and research to encourage a greater awareness of the importance of pain management.

We are a registered Scottish charity (SC009593).

Our membership is drawn from various disciplines, including Clinical Psychology, Physiotherapy, Nursing, Occupational Therapy, Pharmacy and Pain Medicine.

Our main activity is holding educational meetings for professionals with an interest in scientific and clinical pain management, at present twice a year in May and November. Meetings are not restricted to the membership, however members obtain a preferential discounted rate.

The North British Pain Association was founded in 1987 when a group of professionals working in pain management met at the North British Hotel and came up with the idea.

Membership is open to anyone with a substantive interest and/or professional commitment to scientific pain management.

The Association holds two Scientific Meetings every year in May and November, currently in Edinburgh.

The Council is responsible for the running of the Association. Members of Council are elected by the membership at the Annual General Meeting. Council members receive no fee or salary for their work but do receive reimbursement for reasonable expenses.

The 'rules' that govern the running of the Association exist in our Constitution.

The Association is a registered Scottish charity whose aims are to promote education and research in the field of pain management. Our Accounts are subject to annual Independent Examination and submitted to the Office of the Scottish Charities Regulator, as per the requirements of Charity Law in Scotland.
